Cutteslowe Community Centre
Cutteslowe Community Association will provide a holiday activities programme for young people aged 10-15 years old which runs from time to time during school holidays. As a youth activities worker, your role will be to support and encourage young people attending, to take part in the range of activities and opportunities available to them.
Many young people, particularly those from socio-economically deprived areas, face an endless maze of boredom, loneliness and temptation, with nowhere to go and a lack of
inspiring and productive activities to occupy their leisure time. This can lead to negative
impacts on their health and future life prospects. Cutteslowe Community Association
has received funding from Oxford City Council to help provide a range of positive and
enjoyable activities to young people in the Cutteslowe area.
Duties and Responsibilities - General
Be a role model for young people and present a positive “can do” attitude.
Take personal responsibility for own actions.
Comply with all policies and procedures, with reference to safeguarding, codes of conduct health and safety and equality and diversity to ensure all activities are accessible.
To be alert to issues of safeguarding and child protection, ensuring the welfare and safety of the young people is promoted and safeguarded, and to report any child protection concerns to the designated Child Protection Officers using the
safeguarding policies, procedures and practice. (training to be provided)
To assist with any promotional activities and to actively promote the holiday activities programme.
A working understanding of equality and diversity with the ability to challenge discriminatory behaviour.
Education, qualifications or experience
Level 2 JNC or relevant youth work experience and/or childcare qualification minimum
NVQ3 or relevant experience.
Experience of working with children and/or young people in a city estate-based
environment is desirable.
