What we do within the community

Aside form the weekly groups and classes that run here, we also hold many other activities and events, both regular and one off, all though out the year. These include things such as our monthly community lunch, day trips and activity days. You can find a little information about the things we hold regularly and see what we've previously been up to.

Join Us At Our Monthly Community Cafe!

On the 2nd Friday of each month, we invite you all to come and enjoy a freshly cooked 2-course meal, prepared by volunteers and members. Make new friends, catch up and spend time with fellow members of your local community!

Cutteslowe Summer Playscheme

Tuesday 4th - Friday 21st August 2020

Mondays - Fridays, 10:00am-3:00pm

In 2019, we were once again delighted to provide a 3-week summer Playscheme which offered a fun, structured and packed programme of activities for children aged 5 – 11 years.

We welcomed back many familiar faces as well as children new to the scheme. For children new to the area our Playscheme offers a great opportunity to get to know other young people and to familiarise themselves with all that is offer in the area from city and countryside parks and facilities such as the local swimming pool.

All activities are run by a dedicated, experienced and enthusiastic team and sessions are organised into age appropriate activities that cater for all interests. Last year we were delighted to welcome Fiona Greenwood as Play Leader. Fiona had previously worked on the team in 2018 and as a local parent with a young child herself as well as being a Forest School Leader, she was able to bring many new skills and knowledge to share with the team.
We look forward to welcoming her back again this year!

Children enjoyed activities such as bushcraft, art and craft, technology, treasure hunts, football, netball, swimming, animation and cooking – to name just a few. Two days were never the same! The scheme provided a safe and fun environment for children to enjoy a range of activities including arts, crafts, sports and team games. The aim of the Play Scheme is to ensure  children have fun over the summer and also to provide a break for parents.

Playscheme will run this year between the above dates and child registration will open up on Monday 4th May.

We will also be recruiting staff members and volunteers to work with us for the 3-week duration, so do get in touch with us as soon as possible if you are interested in this opportunity.

Trip to Winter Wonderland, Hyde Park London

Friday 22nd December

Our last community day trip of the year was, from what some of you told us, the highlight of 2017’s activities! We started off the day with warming hot drinks, soup and nibbles, before taking two coaches into central London where we enjoyed Winter Wonderland’s Christmas markets, rides, delicious street food and the beautiful twinkle of the evening lights before it was time to leave. A firm favourite for the list this year? We think so!

We have to say a big thank you to Lord Mayor of Oxford, Jean Fooks, also a big supporter of Cutteslowe, for helping us fund some extra activities for families and friends to enjoy as well as giving a short speech. We also thank the Recycle For Oxford team for joining us with some activities and top tips on food waste and recycling. We enjoyed Incredible Edible Oxford's seed planting activity as well as some tomato plants to take home and nurture. CriaTu also had a great stall where families were able to request some custom made gifts and accessories.

The sun was incredibly hot, but that didn't stop an amazing time being had by all!

The Oxford Big Tea Party!

Friday 16th June , 1pm-3pm

Aspire Oxford raised funds and awareness about the critical role of community transport – such as the Oxford City service delivered daily by Aspire – to help combat isolation and reduce loneliness of elderly people who deserve a life of dignity and independence.

The event,  supported by students and volunteers was a great success and fully attended by those who told us they thoroughly enjoyed an afternoon of sandwiches, cakes and tea whilst taking in the atmosphere of live music and conversation between friends, old and new!
